A quick short answer is to find the TV remote button that sets the picture such as overscan etc and set your TV picture mode to Auto resolution.

What this will do is no matter what device you have connected to your Smart TV or TV it will automatically adjust its own screen size per whichever home entertainment device you have connected such as an IPTV device, Xbox, Firestick, etc.

The button will be on your actual Smart TV remote and can be called something such as p.sizeor p.effect or can be an icon of a TV under the button.

Some smart TVs may need you to go inside the Menu and then settings to set up the auto resolution picture setting on your TV.

We will cover how you can set the auto resolution on 2 of the most widely used TV brands below. If you have another brand of Smart TV then the procedure will be similar.

What Different IPTV Screen Sizes Are They

Normally you can choose from 4 different IPTV screen sizes for your IPTV device but this will also be true no matter what device you own such as consoles, Android TV boxes, and more.

The Different TV Aspect Ratios

4:3 Letter Box – This setting will put 2 black bars both below and above the picture so it looks more widescreen like you were at the cinema.

4:3 Pan Scan – This will crop both sides of your picture so it matches the TV screen size but you may lose some of the picture from the crop.

16:9 Original – This is the standard screen size setting that most Smart TVs come shipped with.

16:9 Full – This is made for 16:9 TVs which most are nowadays but if you have a 4:3 screen size the 16:9 will help to fit the picture more horizontally across your TV screen.

The Different IPTV HDMI Resolutions

Depending on what IPTV device you have and how new it is you may need to set your device to work with whatever HDMI resolution your TV goes up to.

Here are all the resolutions you can set on your IPTV device depending on its age so you get the best picture and screen size from your TV.

Auto Resolution

This setting will automatically choose the best resolution for your IPTV device to work with the Smart TV.

This is normally the best setting to get the correct IPTV screen size.

1080p

This will be the most used HDMI resolution as most smart TVs are now full 1080p.

This setting outputs 1080 lines of progressive video.

1080i

This setting is not the best if your TV supports 1080p due to the 1080i not being true 1080 as it is upscaled and interlaced.

This setting outputs 1080 lines of interlaced video.

720p

Going back maybe 10 years now 720p was the best HD resolution around and was good for fast-moving streams such as sports streams.

Now, this is not the best setting to use as you get fewer lines of the progressive video so the picture can look more zoomed in when compared to the 1080p setting.

This setting outputs 720 lines of progressive video.

480p

This is a very low HD resolution and should be avoided at all costs. The picture will look very bad quality as compared to the latest 1080p and even 4K resolutions.

To see what we mean go and watch a video on YouTube then set the resolution to 480p inside the Youtube video setting and see for yourself.

This setting outputs 480 lines of progressive video.

480i

This should be avoided too as is a little worse than its 480p sibling.

This is the lowest of HD resolutions on our list and is using interlaced video which is not true 480 due to it being upscaled and interlaced.

This setting outputs 480 lines of interlaced video.
